The topography of the coastal site allows the new extension to be positioned on the south side of the existing cottage at a lower floor level, allowing the existing cottage to continue to enjoy its southern views over the ocean.
The roof of the new extension forms a terrace to the existing cottage. Set partially underground, the new extension is designed in a rational form where all of the significant rooms share south light and sea views through glass walls set in a stone context.
A minimalist concept has been taken on with the internal detailing. Natural materials integrate the external visible walls of the extension into the natural landscape of the area.
